Scenario development for freight logistics
For Logistics Community Brabant, we developed a series of future scenarios for the logistics network.
As a data partner of Logistics Community Brabant, we developed a series of scenarios for the shipping and freight network in the Brabant region. The growth in container transshipment will have major consequences for this network. We use so-called routing technology to map changes in logistics, road capacity and accessibility.
For Logistics Community Brabant, we developed nine scenarios for freight logistics. With these, we aim to provide better insight into the effects of increasing container transshipment on freight traffic on major roads. This enables governments to make better decisions and anticipate future developments.
For the calculations, we took a series of factors into account: shipping terminal capacity, navigability classes, route preferences of freight carriers, alternative shipping routes in case of full terminals and the effect of sluices and blockages.
